Militants offer gun salute at Adil Chopan’s funeral in Tral | KNO

Four militants surfaced at the funeral of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant Adil Rashid Chopan and offered a gun salute in full public gaze on Tuesday. Chopan was killed in a gunfight with government forces in Seer area of Tral yesterday. Four armed militants surfaced in the funeral and fired several shots in the air in Lurow, native village of Chopan. Chopan, who was killed in a gunfight in Seer village of Tral township, was laid to rest at the martyrs’ graveyard in Lurow where thousands of people attended his funeral prayers. Emotional scenes were witnessed as the body of Chopan (17) was marched towards the graveyard. Women were seen beating their chest while men raised pro-freedom slogans. Chopan was rescued by locals during a gunfight in which Hizb commander Sabzar Bhat and his associate Faizan Bhat were killed in Saimoh, Tral in May this year. (GK)
